Smoke & Octane BBQ Competition

REGISTRATION


 

2026 SMOKE N' OCTANE REGISTRATION FORM


* COMPETITION WILL BE LIMITED TO 15 TEAMS * 


The competition will be backyard-style BBQ 

with three different meats:

· Brisket

· Pork Shoulder

· Chicken (any type)


All meats will be presented and judged on: 

· Appearance

· Taste

· Texture

· Tenderness 

· (NO GARNISH)


Turn In Times:

· Chicken: 12:00pm

· Pork: 12:15pm

· Brisket: 12:30pm


 Following the last meat turn in, all participants are encouraged to provide samples to the public for donations. 


  • Donations will be split 50/50 with the Monticello Recreation Foundation and the BBQ competitor. 


  • Donations will offset the costs encountered by the competitor as well as directly benefit the Monticello Recreation Foundation

$100.00 and a Smoke N Octane Trophy


First Place CHICKEN Pitmaster:

First Place BRISKET Pitmaster: 

$100.00 and a Smoke N Octane Trophy


Grand Champion Pit Master:

$300.00 and a custom Smoke N Octane Cutting Board

DETAILS


BBQ competition will be located on North Park Street, 

west side of historic Pepsin Hill in downtown Monticello. 

North Park Street is located west of Market Street (IL Route 105) 

between West Livingston and West Main Streets.


Participants should be prepared to sell 2-ounce samples to the interested public, at $2/sample - but it is not required. 

(approximately 75 - 100 people)

 

Tickets will be sold at the Monticello Recreation Foundation booth and all proceeds will be split 50/50 with the Monticello Recreation Foundation.


ENTRY INFORMATION


There is a $30 entrance fee and limited to the 

first 15 teams that register. 

Eligible entries will be provided an overnight parking spot.

Pitmasters Competition and Judging 

Brisket Judging: Approx. 12:00pm

Pork Butt Judging: Approx. 12:15pm

Chicken Judging: Approx. 12:30pm

Awards Announced and Trophies Presented: 1:30pm
